The Han Dynasty is the period of Chinese history that extends from 206 BC to 220 AD period when China was united, prosperous and stable, and is considered the second largest Dynasty China. In contrast to the previous Qi Dynasty, the Han was a period of cultural growth. One of the largest and oldest stories, the Shiji by Sima Qian, was composed at that time and the fu, a poetic form began to flourish and became the form of creative writing.
The Yuefu or Music Bureau collected and recorded not only the ceremonial songs but also songs and ballads of ordinary people. The objects in lacquer, first developed during the Shang Dynasty, reached a high level of expertise and began producing silk for the export market went so far as Europe.
