Qufu, capital of the district of monthName is a 20-30 minute drive from the railway station in Yanzhou. This city has an ancient history. There is the Shaohao Mausoleum, one of the five kings of the Three Kingdoms period and the Five Dynasties. The mausoleum is the only one in China built with stone blocks and shaped like a square pyramid. It is 10 km northeast of Qufu.

Qufu is the hometown of Confucius (551-479 BC), an eminent philosopher, founder of the Confucian school and teacher who lived in the late Spring and Autumn Period.
